Lightweight Strollers- Improving On Their Safety Features

Lightweight strollers make travelling more convenient for you and your family. Strollers usually come with safety features to help keep your baby safe and secure. You should always make use of these features and know some basic safety tips in order to prevent accidents from happening. In order to make travelling safe and hassle-free, here are some safety tips to help keep your child secure and provide you with peace of mind.

Tips To Improve Lightweight Strollers’ Safety

  • Before placing babies on lightweight strollers, always make sure that the stroller is completely open and locked in that position. This will prevent the stroller from folding as you’re putting your baby in there. You should also make sure that all the wheels are locked to stop the stroller from rolling off as you’re placing baby in the stroller.
  • Babies under 6 months usually have limited control over their neck and back muscles. They would have a hard time sitting up for long periods of time. So as much as possible avoid placing small infants in the reclining seat. But if you absolutely have to place the baby there, put the seat of the lightweight strollers in a reclining position and let your baby lie down with restraints.
  • Never place sharp or heavy objects or hot liquids on the parent tray. The child could get injured if these items fall or if and when your child reaches them.
  • Never hang anything on the handles of your stroller. Heavy purses or shopping bags can easily topple over lightweight strollers. If you do need a place for your bags, there’s usually a storage compartment underneath the seat of the stroller where you can place heavier items. Or avoid bringing items you don’t need while travelling with your baby so you don’t have to carry anything heavy.
  • Even when leaving children on lightweight strollers for less than a minute, make sure that you secure the stroller harness around your child. If you don’t, some babies have a tendency to get into trouble, especially when you’re not looking. To make sure that nothing unexpected happens, secure your baby on the stroller regardless of how long he or she stays there.
